Florence I. Cegelka, 77, of Pocono Summit, died Monday, March 5, 2018 at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono in East Stroudsburg. She was the loving wife of Peter Cegelka, with whom she shared 44 years of marriage.
Born in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, she was the daughter of the late Levi L. and Ruth (Champaigne) Ayers.
During her working career, Florence was the youngest Librarian at the Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. She moved to the Poconos in 1974, and worked at Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg, where she was supervisor of Medical Records. She worked as a medical transcriptionist on her own for 15 years before retiring.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Robert Cegelka and his wife, Laurie of Pocono Summit; Francis Cegelka of Florida; and Martha Porter of New York; grandchildren, Dr. Derek Cegelka, Jessica Ciaccio and her husband Adam, Nicole Cegelka, David Porter and his wife Chelsea, and Juliana Knickerbocker and her husband Bill; three great-grandchildren; nephews, Charles Ayers of Florida, and Levi Ayers of Pocono Summit; and her beloved 26 year old African Gray Parrot, Brigs. Florence was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Ayers.
There will be a visitation from Saturday, March 10 at Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. A memorial service will begin at at the funeral home.
Private cremation has been entrusted to Bolock Funeral Home Crematory; her remains will be interred at Lakeview Cemetery in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire at a later date.
