Catherine Rivera, 94, of Mount Pocono, died Monday, December 25, 2017 at home. She was the loving wife of the late Aurelio Rivera, with whom she shared 48 years of marriage.
Born in New York, New York, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine (Moore) Freer.
Catherine raised her family in North Bergen, New Jersey, before moving to the Poconos 30 years ago. While living in the Poconos, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially helping to raise her grandchildren. Catherine was of the Catholic faith and a member of the former St. Mary of the Mount Church in Mount Pocono.
She is survived by her children, Dolores Bergman of Mount Pocono, Theresa Nunamacher of Mount Pocono, Michael Rivera and his wife, Sandra of Old Tappan, New Jersey, Rose M. Kelly and her husband, Paul of Pocono Summit, and Paul Rivera and his wife, Dee of Effort; daughter-in-law, Sandra Rivera of Dingmans Ferry; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Raymond Rivera.
There will be a viewing from 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, December 27 at Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. Reverend Father Gregory Loughney will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 28 at St. Ann's Church, 1600 Church Street, Tobyhanna. Burial will follow at Pocono Lake Cemetery.
